Gen G.G. Bewoor: 1st DG NCC

General G.G. Bewoor, born in Karnataka, was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery on July 15, 1937.

He is an alumnus of the Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, and the Indian Military Academy.

Post Partition General Bewoor was transferred to the Dogra Regiment.

1st DG NCC

In April 1948, he took on the role of Director of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) with the acting rank of full colonel.

On January 15, 1973, General G.G. Bewoor succeeded the esteemed Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw as the 8th Army Chief

Post-retirement, General Bewoor served as the Indian Ambassador to Denmark from February 1976 to March 1978.

On October 24, 1989, General Bewoor took his last breath, leaving behind a legacy of service in the military, diplomacy, and academia.
